Eric Clapton在西洋樂壇素有"吉他之神"的美譽，五十多歲時育得一子，但是造化弄人，一九九一年三月，才四歲大的愛子Conor康諾，竟從紐約數十層高的公寓住家意外摔下身亡，Eric Clapton傷痛之餘，寫下此曲Tears In Heaven，以紀念亡兒，後來，Eric Clapton參與電影「Rush」(台灣並未公映)配樂的編寫，在他的堅持下，這首歌出現在電影中，並成為他有史以來最暢銷的單曲。

Tears In Heaven在告示牌雜誌的百大單曲榜上連續四週高掛亞軍，售出數百萬張，這首歌也為他贏得了一項格林美獎。兒子去世一年後，艾瑞克萊普頓應MTV頻道之邀，舉辦不插電演唱會，演唱了這首曲子，真情流露思子之心，感動了在場及電視機前的所有歌迷，因為這首歌，這場演唱會的實況錄音於一九九二年八月發行成專輯後，在告示牌專輯榜上留連了超過兩年，全球共售出一千萬張。Eric曾３次入選搖滾音樂名人堂，16次贏得格林美獎。
