Uli Jon Roth - 德國新古典金屬吉他先驅

1954年12月18日出生於德國的Uli Jon Roth（或稱Ulrich Roth）曾是天蠍合唱團（Scorpion）的主奏吉他手（接替首任吉他手Michael Schenker），期間發行了「Fly To The Rainbow」、「In Trance」以及著名的「Virgin Killer」等專輯，讓Scorpion 成功的打入了美國市場，從中可以窺見Roth精湛的吉他彈奏風格表現，不過隨後的一張「Taken By Force」專輯，由於Roth 的吉他創作方向逐漸與當時流行的搖滾風格背道而馳，加上和團員間的音樂理念不合，於1978年離團而開始了個人的演奏生涯。

Uli Jon Rot 早期的樂風深受Jimi Hendrix的影響，而當他離開Scorpion後更致力於新古典金屬樂派電吉他的研究（為新古典金屬先驅，影響了日後像是Yngwie Malmsteen、Marty Friedman、 James Byrd以及Jake E·Lee等吉他翹楚），2000年《Transcendental Sky Guitar》專輯中詮釋了多首Hendrix的經典作品而贏得了國際間的讚賞，隨後也參加了歐洲G3巡演， 還舉行了個人的小型巡迴演唱會『Legends Of Rock』， 順利地讓他的音樂生涯又向前推進了一步。 2003年率領著交響樂團Sky Orchestra 共同演奏「維瓦第的四季」（為Roth過去曾經彈奏四季的版本中自認為是最完美的）也成就了令人驚豔的新專輯《Metamorphosis》。
