"If" 是David A. Gates 在1971年填詞譜曲的歌，他是1970年代早期相當受到歡迎的熱門搖滾團體-麵包合唱團（Bread）的主唱兼吉他手、鋼琴手及歌曲創作人，這首單曲在1971年一經麵包合唱團推出（收錄在Bread的第三張專輯Manna 中）隨即獲得了美國告示牌百大熱門單曲（Billboard Hot 100）排行的第四名，很快地也被許多歌手爭相翻唱（像是 Jack Jones, Perry Como 和 Telly Savalas），其中 Telly Savalas 的版本更在1975年3月份獲得了英國單曲榜（UK singles chart）冠軍達2週之久。此外，如果您是熱衷流音的六年級朋友，應該會記得周葆元（LA Boys 的朋友）在剛出道時也曾翻唱過這首歌，火紅了"一陣子"。"If" 是一首慢版動人的抒情歌謠，從發行至今，經年累月還能在國外的婚禮上（作為第一支舞的歌曲 ）被聽到，足以證明其永恆不滅的魅力。猶記當年學習吉他時，該曲總會在各大吉他教本中履履出現，主因於歌曲在吉他和弦的貝斯音旋律聲線（Bass Line）的編排進行是相當出色又好聽的基楚範本。
