Across The Universe - The Beatles


『Across the Universe 』是披頭四的經典作品之一，首次發表在1969年12月以作為慈善募款（收錄在一張名為 No One's Gonna Change Our World 的合輯裡頭，收益將捐助於一個與大自然保育研究相關的國際性非政府機構-World Wide Fund for Nature/WWF）；隨後，又重新編修收錄在他們的最後一張專輯- Let It Be。這首歌是由John Lennon 以及Paul McCartney 共同創作， 主要由John Lennon 演唱。幾十年來，眾多樂團或藝人都曾翻唱過這首歌，顯見歌曲魅力及其影響力。其中包括了Fiona Apple、David Bowie、Cyndi Lauper、The John Butler Trio、Lana Lane、The String Cheese Incident、Grant-Lee Phillips、10cc、Jeff Ball、 Roger Waters、Element of Crime 等等。如果大家還記得西恩潘主演的「他不笨，他是我爸爸」 這部電影（I Am Sam ），原聲帶多首來自披頭四合唱團最經典的歌曲中的一首便是 Across The Universe，由Rufus Wainwright 重新翻唱。

2005年2月份的葛萊美頒獎典禮上，眾知名藝人再度合唱了這首歌，包括Billie Joe Armstrong, Bono, Steven Tyler, Brian Wilson, Tim McGraw, Scott Weiland, Alicia Keys, Alison Krauss, Norah Jones, 以及Stevie Wonder 等人，背景音樂是由Velvet Revolver的成員伴奏；這個獨特的合唱錄音版本在幾個禮拜後透過iTunes Music Store 販售，創下iTunes史上付費下載最快的歌曲，也讓這個版本快速達到Billboard 單曲榜第22名，然而整體最大的意義莫過於這些收入是要用為當時南亞海嘯（2004年12月26日）的賑災經費。
